Shamrock Cupcakes!

I made these cupcakes for Sunday dinner and they are one of the kids favorite flavors!  I think that they all like mint, so these were a big hit.  I made a shamrock shake to go with these but I did not get any pictures of the shakes.  You will just have to use your imagination for them.  I just made a vanilla shake and put in mint extract and green food coloring.  Then we put whipped cream on the top and green sprinkles.  So fun!

To make the cupcakes I put 3 different recipes together!  So now I have one new recipe.

So let’s make some shamrock cupcakes! Continue reading

By George! It’s a Cherry Dessert!

Happy Presidents Day to everyone!

This is not a holiday that we normally really celebrate at our house. The grand kids are out of school but most everyone in my family still have to work today.  But I decided that we could at least celebrate with this super easy little cherry dessert!  This is one that even the kids will eat, because it is a cupcake!

Princess Party

We had our little princess party last week and the girls (my granddaughters) LOVED it.  They were so cute and they all get along so well.

I made these tutu’s

a few days ago, I found this fun party pack with the tiara’s, jewelry, wand, flashing microphone, banners, and lip gloss!  It was perfect for what I wanted.  When the girls got here, the very first thing they did was to to get  all dressed up like little princesses!Aren’t they adorable?!Then they each strutted their stuff!  Some sang,Some were coy,And some were practicing their model poses! We had a royal lunch with heart shaped tea sandwiches, chips, heart jello jigglers and a royal drink (cherry 7-up).  We learned how to use our napkins, sip our drinks, be polite, and stick out our pinkie finger to show how posh we were!  We had these princess cupcakes for dessert. After lunch we played pin the frog on the princess, fairy-fairy-princess (duck-duck-goose), we colored paper dolls and did a princess maze, then we practiced walking and sitting like a princess and worked on some of our dance and twirling moves!

After we had worn ourselves out, or at least grandma, we read Fancy Nancy and learned how to be posh and very FANCY!

When it was time to go home they all got to fill up their goodie bags with some yummy treats and goodies and Magical cookie wands!

It was a great party and they were all so cute and so sweet that it was a joy to have them and to spend the afternoon all together.  There is nothing that beats being a grandma!

They are blowing a kiss to all of you and hoping that you can be princess for a day too!

With love from,

No Mess Frosting Idea

I made these snowman cupcakes yesterday with a cute way to package them. But today I am going to show you how I made them…

I found this cupcake mix at the grocery store and I decided that I wanted to try them.  I made the cupcakes according to the directions, except I added applesauce instead of the oil. (a weight watchers tip that I use all of the time!)  These cupcakes have a filling in the middle like a “Twinkie” and they are really pretty good, and they come in chocolate also!  This box makes 12 cupcakes, which was perfect for what I wanted.

After the cupcakes cooled I frosted them using this super duper idea I found on pinterest! You really need to take a look at this, because it is AMAZING!  The Mind-Blowing Cake Decorating Tip: how to have mess-free icing bags!  If you hate decorating with icing because of all the mess and clean up then this idea will totally change your way of thinking!

Mind-Blowing Cake Decorating Tip

After I frosted the cupcakes I used orange slices for the nose, (Cut in half) and chocolate chips for the mouth and eyes.  I was going to dip the cupcakes in edible white glitter before putting the faces on, but I totally spaced it.  But they are really cute with the glitter!

Here is my little family of snow people!

Look at how yummy these cupcakes are with the filling in the middle!

Then I put them in a clear 9 oz plastic cup and into a cellophane bag and tied them up.  They are fun for a  little gift to give to your friends, teachers, neighbors, or perhaps even for yourself!  You need a treat every now and again, right?

Jan 2012 VT Message

The message for this month is titled “Watchcare and Ministering through Visitiing Teaching”  I love the quote by President Monson about, how small acts of service are all that are required to lift and bless some one else.  We do not have to do big, grand things, but it is our small acts that bless others!

So this is the quote that I used for this months handout:

To print, just right click on the image, go to copy, then open your favorite program like word or presentations, right click again and go to paste.  Then you can print it the way it is or you can re-size it to whatever size you want,

Because it is winter time here in Utah, (even though we have had very little snow this year!)  I decided to tie this message to a snowman cupcake!

I love this idea, that I found on pinterest on how to package a cupcake in a clear 9 oz cup, then put into a clear bag and tie with a ribbon!  How cute is that?  You could also tie a plastic spoon to the package if you wanted to.

This idea is also a cute thank you idea…Thank you “snow” much!

Come back tomorrow for a super idea on how to frost your cupcakes with no mess!  I’m serious!  I tried it today and it works like a charm.  So stayed tuned…
