Minky Quilt as you Go, Quilt

I made this quilt for my grandson’s baptism.  It is made with all  minky fabric and so it is very soft and cuddly!  And it was fun to make because you quilt it as you go and so once you are done sewing the quilt together, you have also quilted it!

Is this not the cutest kid you ever did see?!! :) Continue reading

Don’t Eat Hoppy!

Here is my new game that my grand kids love to play, this is the Easter version of “Don’t Eat Pete!”  It is called  Don’t Eat Hoppy!  This is a fun game for FHE or for a school class party, (just print multiple game boards), even adults can get in on the fun with this game!

Here is the game board:

To print, just right click on your mouse over the image and go to copy.  Then open your favorite program like Word or Presentations,  right click again and paste.  You can then print it out.  It is in an 8 1/2 x 11 format, but you can print any size that you would like.

How to Play
“Don’t Eat Hoppy “
Items Needed • A supply of M&M’s® candies, or any candies that can be picked up and eaten.
• A printed game board
How to Play: Place one M&M in each square of the game board. Send the first child away from the game board, then have the remaining children choose which M&M will be “Hoppy” for the round. Have the first child
come back and begin picking M&M’s from the game board. As soon as the child tries to pick “Hoppy” everyone yells “Don’t Eat Hoppy!”  The child keeps all the M&M’s picked up before trying to get Lucky. Refill the game board and play again with the next child.

Blanket Delivery

Yesterday I did a tutorial on how to make the fringed fleece blankets and I was able to get eight of these made and ready for delivery to a local hospital.  We are doing this project because one of my granddaughters was recently in the hospital and she received a blanket like this and it made her so happy that I decided to pay it forward to some other sick children.

On Sunday afternoon after we had dinner, I talked all of the girls into helping me tie up the blankets to get them ready for delivery to the hospital.  As you know, my motto is that ribbon makes everything cuter!  So we tied up the blankets with different colored ribbons.  We have 4 boy blankets and 4 girl blankets ready to go! What is Your Story?

I attended a conference last weekend called Story@Home.  It was held in Salt Lake City at the Conference center and at the Joseph Smith Memorial Building.  It was a family history, story telling and blogging conference.  I learned a ton of new things and I had a great time. One of my cute DIL’s  went with me and we had a good time together.

The main speaker that I wanted to see was Leigh Anne, from Your Homebased Mom. She has a really fun blog and I learned more from her, hands down, than from any of the other classes that I attended!  Her focus was on blogging your passion and love what you do.  She helped me as a fairly new blogger to have a better perspective of what to expect in following my blogging dreams.  She is so cute and down to earth and realistic and I just really seem to relate to her!

The Wood Connection Project

Yesterday I told you that I would show you the project that I came home with from The Wood Connection Store. So drum roll please:  Ta…Dah!

I got these cute wood letters and I knew exactly what I wanted to do with them.  I have a shelf in my living room and I wanted to put something cute on it.  We had new family pictures taken a couple of days ago, so I want to put some new pictures in this room and they will go perfect now! Story@ Home Conference

I am excited to tell you about a conference that I am going to attend this weekend.  It is called Story@Home 2012.  It is being held in Salt Lake City, UT at Temple square.

Home

This is the description of the conference:

Blogging • Family History • Storytelling

“No matter how you tell your stories – through your family history, at your child’s bedside, on your blog, or from a stage – your stories matter. Join us for a conference that will change the way you see your stories and the world, and help you connect in new ways with those you cherish most.

Workshops and performances by award-winning storytellers, performers and speakers, will help you explore ways to use the power of story in your home. You’ll be able to record your own story, start on some research to learn more about your family’s history, get started on a blog and learn how to tell your story through social media.”

If you are anywhere in the area, there are still tickets available here: Story@Home.  One of the speakers is Leigh Anne from your homebased mom.  She has a fun blog that I have followed for a long time, so I am excited to get to meet her and to listen to her class!

If any of you are attending, please come and say hi if you see me.  I would love to meet you!

March Visiting Teaching Handout

This month the message is titled “Daughters in My Kingdom” and it has a great message about how we are daughters of our Father in Heaven.  He knows us, loves us, and has a plan for us.

How wonderful the world would be if everyone knew just this one eternal principle!  So my handout this month is titled: “Lucky Me – I know:”

Angels Among Us!

I went to visit one of my cute little granddaughters in the hospital.  She has been there for a few days and she has been a little angel during her stay. They have poked and prodded and checked and helped her and she just continues to keep her sweet smile!  While I visited with her and her daddy one afternoon, we ate lunch, went for a walk in the wagon while the nurses changed her bedding, we blew bubbles and played with her magnetic princess paper dolls!  It was  great!
