Card Making Party!

Last week my husband was gone and so I decided to have a card making party while he was away!  My neighbor agreed to teach us some new techniques and tips and so we got some of the girls together for a fun little night out!  I was having so much fun that I really forgot to take very many pictures and the ones I have here have very poor lighting, so you will have to excuse the photographer on this post, but she was more interested in being with friends than the camera! :)

This is my cute little neighbor, who taught our class!

Repurposed Cupboard Door Tray

One of my best friends, Kathy,  gave me this for Christmas!  What a dear friend she is to go to all the time and trouble to make this!  I absolutely love, love, love it!  She told me that she and her husband worked on these together.  They took an old cupboard door, took out the inside part and replaced it with the bead board center.  Painted it these darling colors, distressed it and added the handles to each end!  What a cute idea!  I cannot believe how much time it must have taken to make.  I truly do appreciate all her efforts and talents.  She is my most talented, crafty friend!

I put a candle in my glass apothecary jar and put the Almond Joy pieces  around the candle, because they are blue and white and brown.   I then tied a blue and white ribbon around the jar. Next I added the balls to my tray and my darling snowman bowl that Kathy gave me last year for Christmas  :)

Then I added a bag of the Cutie oranges for another pop of color!  I love how it brightens up my kitchen!

I also love the fact that my 2 year old grandson loves these oranges so much that he ate 2 in the car before I could even get them home!  He kept saying he wanted “Moe  Num Nums”  (translated into English…More yum yums!)

Fun Craft Night with… Landee See Landee Do!

Last weekend my friend Sharee and I went to Bountiful for a fun craft night with Landee from Landee See Landee Do.  She is a cute, fun, energetic girl, and was so sweet and kind to us.  She has a darling blog and you really should check it out!

We made these darling subway art boards. Sharee’s daughter met us there for a little while, she is at Weber State going to school and she had her mom bring her a few necessities…like homemade cookies!

Sharee and I had so much fun on our girl’s night out.  You would think that we had not seen each other in months, the way we talked all night long.  Never a dull moment!  I love that this board is double-sided!  It makes for better storage…one board, two holidays, you can’t beat that!

This is the Halloween side. This is the Thanksgiving side.  I love it!

Thanks Sharee and Landee for a fun evening!

French Cocoa

It is a cold, rainy, dreary day outside today.  Perfect for staying indoors with  a big mug of hot chocolate with the fireplace going and a good book to read, wrapped up in your favorite quilt!  At least until you have to get on with real life!  But you could at least make a big mug of hot chocolate!

A  few years ago my friend, Leslie, gave me this recipe for French Cocoa.  I really was not a great fan of hot chocolate…but I guess that I am now!

To make this French Cocoa you will put the unsweetened chocolate squares, sugar and water into a pan. (I am only making 1/2 of the recipe, because it is too big for my empty nester family.) Bring to a boil and let it boil for 3 minutes, stirring occasionally.  Then let it cool to room temperature.Whip your cream until it is very stiff.Fold the cooled chocolate into the cream. This is heaven, folks!  At this point you can just refrigerate until you want to make French Cocoa. (Try not to eat the whole bowl before you make the cocoa. I may or may not have had a few tastes!)Or you can take a large icecream scoop…And scoop onto a cookie sheet.  I lined mine with parchment paper so they would come right off after freezing them. Flash freeze for about 2 hours, then put into a freezer container. (Half of the recipe makes about 12 servings)To make your cocoa, heat milk in a mug until very warm.  Add one scoop of the chocolate mixture and watch the foam start to form!

This truly is a great comfort drink and warms you all the way to your toes!  You need to try this recipe.  It is Heaven!

Here is the printable recipe.  To print-right click on the image, go to copy, then open your favorite program, like word.  Right click again and go to paste.

It is a 4 x 6 format so it will fit in your recipe box!

Hobble Creek Barn Boutique!

My friend, Sue and I went to the Hobble Creek Barn Boutique in Mapleton.  It was great to spend most of a day with a good friend!  I have not been to this boutique in many years and it was a fun liitle place with some things that I had never seen before.  We got several ideas for new projects as well as some great purchases. We went to several other stores and to lunch, it was totally a friend’s day out together and it was great to get away.

I love the metal and vintage things that they had outside on the sidewalk before you even go into the building!

We saw pumpkins, snowmen, americana flags, bird houses, framed mirrors, all kinds of jewelry, clothes, and  of course yummy treats.  They had a little bit of everything! This was one of my purchases of the day.  Does anyone know what I will do with it?  Stay tuned for a project that is yet to come!
