Lucky Me!

I used to decorate for all the holidays when my children were little, but since they have all grown and moved out of the house, I do not do as much but I still have to decorate a little bit for the grand kids. St. Patrick’s day is not one that I usually do too much for.  But I decided that I could decorate my repurposed tray that sits on my kitchen counter.  This is what I came up with:

I made these printables to share with you.  There is one cutsie one, and two modern ones.  You can just print them and frame it like I did here.

Don’t Eat Lucky!

This is a fun game that my grand kids love to play, this is a St. Patrick’s Day version of “Don’t Eat Pete!”  It is called  Don’t Eat Lucky!  This is a fun game for FHE or for a school class party, even adults can get in on the fun with this game!

Here is the game board:

February Visiting Teaching-Guardians of the Hearth

The message this month is another great one.  I feel like I say that every month but this one is so important to us today.  The family is on attack so much by the world that it is sometimes hard to remember how important our role as mothers are.  I love the quote by President Hinckley where it says: ” No other work reaches so close to divinity as does the nurturing of the sons and daughters of God.”  This is so true yet we forget it so often!  We sometimes say that we are just a mom, and yet as a woman that is one of the most divine callings that we can have!  I love how Sister Barbara Thompson also states that you do not have to be a mom to nurture others, you have a responsibility to nurture all those in your family and even if you were the only living member of your family, you are still a member of God’s family.

For the handout this month I concentrated on the quote from Pres. Hinckley:Here is an idea that I did to go with this tag:Come back tomorrow and I will show you how to make Chocolate Dipped Oreo Flowers!

Valentine Chinese Boxes

I got some Chinese take out boxes at a Gygi’s a while back and they are perfect for putting a treat or small gift in.  You can find them at most party supply stores, restaurant supply, craft store or even your favorite Chinese Restaurant! I love that they are a perfect size for cookies, cupcakes, jewelry, treats like candy, popcorn, or nuts!  So I decided that I needed to make a heart to put on the front of them to give away for Valentines Day!  Here is my version of the love birds!

I made three different styles and they look cute with ribbon tied on the handle or wrapped around the box with bakers twine.  You can decorate as lavishly as you would like or keep it as simple as bakers twine!  I used pop dots on the back of the heart to give it a little bit of dimension, but you could also just glue it directly to the box.

So does anyone want to make some Valentine Chinese Take Out Boxes?

To print, just right click and go to copy, open your favorite program like Word or Presentations, right click again and go to paste.  Then simply print.I hope that you are all having a great Monday.

Thank you for stopping by today!

I Love You Because…

I saw this idea the other day when  I was out shopping for things for our princess party and I fell in love with it.  So I decided to make one for me, and one to share with you!

I tend two of my grandchildren a couple of times a week and the 6 year old is just starting to read and she laughed and laughed when she figured out what I had written.  For some reason it really tickled her funny bone.  I thought this might be fun to write something different every day.

You will need a frame with a glass front and a dry erase marker.

I did mine in an 8 x 10 frame, but you can use whatever size you wish.  You do not want to go too small because then there is not a whole lot of room to write the “because”s.    You will need to print it off;

To print, just right click and go to copy.  Open your favorite program like Word or a Presentations program, right click again and go to paste.
Insert print into your frame, tie a cute ribbon around the frame and tie the marker onto the frame so that anyone can write their special message.

Place it where everyone will see it…like in the middle of all these goodies on the kitchen counter!  :)

Have fun with this and let your imagination and your gratitude go wild!

Recipe Book Dividers

It is January and I am still trying to do a little bit of organizing, I had this BIG stack of recipes that I had printed from different websites, pages that I had ripped out of magazines and some recipes that were handwritten by myself or given to me by a friend.  So I decided that I really needed to get them all organized, since they are recipes that I use and I was getting tired of flipping through the whole entire stack to find one recipe!  As I was looking through these recipes I noticed that some of them had been printed 3 years ago!  So I would say that it was definitely time to get my act together.  :)

I went to Costco and bought this plain white binder that you can put a page in the front of it and also in the spine.  This is the 2″ size. Continue reading

Valentines Subway Art

Is it too early to put out Valentine decorations?  I know the stores had them out the day before Christmas, but that is just plain crazy!  I know that there are a few of these already out there in blog land but I wanted to create my own version of a Valentines subway art.  It was fun to create and I think that perhaps I shall have to try my hand at this for Easter!

I found this frame at the dollar store and I spray painted it with a Krylon, red gloss paint.  The color really adds to the overall look of this project.

Here is the printable for you to use!  Just right click and go to copy, then open your favorite program like Word, or Presentations and right click again and go to paste.  The original is 8 x 10, but you can re-size it to whatever you would like.  I had mine printed on glossy card  stock and I think it looks great!

I have mine on my kitchen counter and it really brightens up my kitchen on these cold, dreary, winter days and makes me happy! :)   These would be a great little gift for teachers, friends, sisters, SELF etc!

I love this saying, so I decided to make it into a subway art and frame it!

If you would like to print one, just right click and go to copy, then open your favorite program like word, right click again and go to paste.  The original size is 5 x 7, but you can size it however you would like.  (I ended up printing mine 8 x 10)

Last Minute Neighbor Gift

If you are looking for a quick, cute, easy, inexpensive neighbor gift…I have one for you.  My daughter and I found this print on pinterest  and had them printed at Alphagraphics on glossy cardstock.  Then found frames at the dollar store and spray painted them red, and glittered some of them.  And look how cute they turned out.  Quick, easy, and a great message all in one.  Tie it up with a big bow and you are done!

You can print the picture from here.  We did 8 x 10, but you could also do 5 x 7 frames.  I paired my up with a cute little angel and it makes a darling setting.

I hope that you will all have a great week this week and that the true meaning of Christmas will be with you and your family!

We celebrated our Christmas, last night with all of our families, because this is our off year with the married kids and it was great fun.  The kids did the nativity story, a post that I will have for you tomorrow.  We exchanged gifts, which the kids loved because now they all have something to play with all week while they are out of school! And it is kind of nice to be done with the bulk of my Christmas shopping, the wrapping, the food and candy making etc etc etc.  So now this week I can relax a little bit and just enjoy the season!

Happy Holidays!
