Make-up Bag and Brush Holder

One of the stops that we made on our recent trip was at the Mac Cosmetic Store in Las Vegas!  I love going to this store because we only have Mac Counters in Utah, so when I get close to a store I try to make a visit!  :)

I love their products and the quality, but they are a little pricey so I feel like I have to be careful when using them and take good care of my products.  So when I got home I decided that a new make-up bag and brush holder were in order!

Easy Maxi Skirt

We are starting a beginning sewing class in our Relief Society.  That is the women’s organization in our church and I am in charge of teaching it.  I am so excited because we have some really fun projects that are for beginners, but they are so cute that I think those that already sew will want to join us too! :)

In our first class we are going to make these darling Maxi Skirts!DSC_0273-2

(Don’t you love my new dress form?  I just got it and I am so excited that I can dress it for my pictures now!)

Grandma and Grandpa Dates

Part of our granddaughter’s Christmas gift was to have a date with Grandma and go to the beauty salon! So last week we went to a local beauty school and each of the girls got their hair done and their fingernails painted!

It was so much fun and the girls loved it!

I think that we might even have to do it again sometime! :)

Look at how darling that hair is!  Each one of them turned out sooo cute!

Leggings and Tights

This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of No nonsense for SocialSpark. All opinions are 100% mine.

I recieved a pair of brown cordoroy leggings and a pair of black lace tights from “No nonsense” to try out.  I  was very excited to experiment with different outfits to wear them with!

I have tried other leggings and I have to say that I loved these “No nonsense” ones because they are so stretchy and comfortable and they were long enough for my tall torso.  I loved how adding a fun denim skirt to the brown cordoroy leggings made a fun, young look!   Of course they are perfect to wear in the winter with your favorite pair of boots.  This was a really fun outfit to put together and the leggings make a totally fun look!

Recycled Sweater Scarf

A couple of weeks ago, I visited a good friend of mine who had a boutique booth at “This is the Place” in Salt Lake City.  She had so many cute things and it was fun to go to this boutique.  It was outside in the winter time!  They had fires going in the evenings and carolers and it was an old fashioned Christmas setting!  So fun!

While at this boutique, one of my purchases was a fun sweater scarf.

I loved it and knew right away that I wanted to duplicate it and make some for Christmas gifts!

Aren’t these sisters the cutest!

They are my friend’s daughters and I asked them to be my models and they were so gracious to consent.  I love how they all have their own very distinct personalities!  They are such sweet girls.

Joel Dewberry Skirt

I am quite proud of myself today.  I made a piece of clothing that I actually like and that fits me!  That doesn’t happen very often and I really don’t sew for myself very much for that reason!  But I saw this pattern made up at the “Dog Kennel Quilt Show”  a couple of months ago and I just loved it, so I decided that perhaps I would try to make one.  I was skeptical about it, but I liked the pattern so much that I bit the bullet and made it! Ikea- Ruffled Scarf!

I was invited to a Blogger Mixer & Networking Event at Ikea.  It was so much fun to make some new blogging friends and to be able preview some of the new displays at Ikea and get a sneak peek at their new catalog! They fed us breakfast and then they sent on on a shopping spree!  It doesn’t get any better than that!  Thank you Celeste and Ikea and Tauni at SNAP for putting this great event together!

Turquoise and Orange Maxi Dress

I made this turquoise maxi dress from this tutorial.  It takes 30 minutes to make this  dress…really!  I changed my dress up a bit from the tutorial, in that I took the sides in under the arms to make it more fitted and I turned the edges in on the neck, sleeves and hem.  You could leave all these edges raw because they will not fray, but I like the finished edges better. (I am just weird that way!) Continue reading

2nd Sewing Lesson

Yesterday we had our 2nd sewing lesson with my granddaughter.  She was excited to sew and immediately went to the sewing machine and started sewing her straight lines on the striped material.  She is always so proud to show me what she has done after each line that she sews!  She is doing really well, especially for a 6 year old!

This project took a little bit more of Grandma’s help, but as far as all the seams, my granddaughter sewed all of them! Continue reading

Dyed Tennis Shoes With a Matching Shirt!

I saw this idea on how to dye canvas tennies here and decided I wanted to give it a try, but I was worried that if I dyed the shoes that it would be difficult to match it with anything else, so I decided that I would dye an old t-shirt too!!  Now I have a new outfit with shoes to match!

So does anyone else want to make a new outfit? Continue reading
