Joel Dewberry Skirt

I am quite proud of myself today.  I made a piece of clothing that I actually like and that fits me!  That doesn’t happen very often and I really don’t sew for myself very much for that reason!  But I saw this pattern made up at the “Dog Kennel Quilt Show”  a couple of months ago and I just loved it, so I decided that perhaps I would try to make one.  I was skeptical about it, but I liked the pattern so much that I bit the bullet and made it! Too Fa-BOO-lous Pillow (Plus a giveaway!)

I love to decorate for Halloween, but I usually will not put any decorations out until October, I cheated a little bit this year because I had one of my granddaughters here and I let her help me do some of the decorating last week.  But I decorated my front porch today and I am excited to share it with you later this week.  In the fall, I always seem to do a lot more crafts and sewing and this year has been no different.

Today I have a fun pillow wrap with a full pattern for you!  You might just want to run out a purchase the supplies so that you can make one of these this weekend! They are so easy and so cute.

Dog Kennel Quilt Show

I went to the Dog Kennel Quilt show this last weekend. Isn’t that quite the name!  apparently when they first started they met in an old dog kennel building!  My how times have changed. They were celebrating 20 years this year!  This is what greeted us as we pulled up to the house!  Is that amazing or what.  It is a small representation of some of their quilts over the last 20 years! Ikea- Ruffled Scarf!

I was invited to a Blogger Mixer & Networking Event at Ikea.  It was so much fun to make some new blogging friends and to be able preview some of the new displays at Ikea and get a sneak peek at their new catalog! They fed us breakfast and then they sent on on a shopping spree!  It doesn’t get any better than that!  Thank you Celeste and Ikea and Tauni at SNAP for putting this great event together!

Fun Trucks and Cars Quilt

I bought this quilt kit at my favorite little store in Midway, “Seasons of Home”  a few weeks ago and I have worked on it on the weekends when my husband and I have gone up to our cabin.  (I always have to have a project and I think that I drive my husband crazy!)  It is a very fun easy quilt to make and it only took me a couple of days to complete the whole top! 15 min Pillow Slipcovers

I have some old pillows that I use outside on my patio and they were getting pretty hammered, so I decided that I would just make some new slipcovers to put over them.  They were sooo easy to make and yet made such a difference that I wondered why I had waited so long to do them. Continue reading

Turquoise and Orange Maxi Dress

I made this turquoise maxi dress from this tutorial.  It takes 30 minutes to make this  dress…really!  I changed my dress up a bit from the tutorial, in that I took the sides in under the arms to make it more fitted and I turned the edges in on the neck, sleeves and hem.  You could leave all these edges raw because they will not fray, but I like the finished edges better. (I am just weird that way!) Continue reading

2nd Sewing Lesson

Yesterday we had our 2nd sewing lesson with my granddaughter.  She was excited to sew and immediately went to the sewing machine and started sewing her straight lines on the striped material.  She is always so proud to show me what she has done after each line that she sews!  She is doing really well, especially for a 6 year old!

This project took a little bit more of Grandma’s help, but as far as all the seams, my granddaughter sewed all of them! Continue reading
