Mini Strawberry Donuts

I had a couple of cute little helpers at my house yesterday, so I decided that it would be a good day to make mini donuts.  I wanted to try a new kind…Strawberry.  So I just kind of made up a recipe, they turned out OK, but I wish that I had added more strawberries or at least some kind of strawberry flavoring.  But they got eaten pretty darn fast, so I guess that no one else cared that they didn’t have more strawberry flavor!

Strawberry Shortcake

My husband and I have been gone on vacation for the last week or so and now it is time to come back to reality and the real life.  Ugh.  We had a great time in Sunny Arizona and enjoyed many fun activities like spring baseball training, shopping, sunny skies, shopping, eating out, shopping, going to the fruit stands, shopping…OK I think you get the picture!  I will do a post later about some of my fun finds!

But I had a major computer disaster and ended up buying a brand new computer when we got home!  It is a pain trying to re-load everything onto a new computer, but it is so fun to have a new, clean, faster computer!  So now this is my first post on my new computer and it is great.

My husband and I have made this trip to AZ every year now for about 7-8 years.  It is something that we both look forward to.  My husband loves all the Spring Training baseball games and I love being in the warm (hot) weather so it is a great match!  We have gotten so that we know the area pretty good and are learning all the road names and how to get around the Phoenix area.  One of my favorite places to go every year is a big fruit market called Superstition Market.  They have so many different fruits and veggies for so cheap it makes my head spin!  I would totally go here every week if I lived anywhere around there!  So I had to load up with all kinds of goodies to bring home. It was great!

One of the things that I brought home was strawberries and so I HAD to make a strawberry shortcake for a birthday that we celebrated on Sunday. This is a fun recipe, using a cake mix that is really easy, but yet looks so pretty!

Bruschetta

One of the dishes that my daughter made for our Super Bowl  meal was Bruschetta.  It tasted so good in the middle of the winter.  Of course it tastes better with home grown tomatoes in the summer, but hey we’ll take what we can get!  I love the tomatoes, garlic and basil flavors in this scrumptious appetizer!  Doesn’t it look good enough to just eat with a spoon?  (And maybe I did or did not do that!)

Card Making Party!

Last week my husband was gone and so I decided to have a card making party while he was away!  My neighbor agreed to teach us some new techniques and tips and so we got some of the girls together for a fun little night out!  I was having so much fun that I really forgot to take very many pictures and the ones I have here have very poor lighting, so you will have to excuse the photographer on this post, but she was more interested in being with friends than the camera! :)

This is my cute little neighbor, who taught our class!

Magical cookie Wands!

I made these for our princess party and they look so stinking cute in this little pink bucket!  I have been making these for many years.  They are great as a cookie bouquet for someone special or for a fun centerpiece!Do you want to know why they are magical?

Because there is no baking involved!

All you need is the striped shortbread cookies with a hole in the middle, some gumdrop or Ju Ju hearts and wooden skewers!  Push one of the hearts down onto the skewer, then the cookie, followed by another heart. So stinking easy and so cute. Then tie a bunch of ribbons below the gumdrop and you have a Magical Cookie Wand.  If you want to make this into a cookie flower bouquet just add green ribbons or tape silk or paper leaves to the “stem”.  Add a note that says, “Love you Bunches”Put into a container with some floral foam and grasses or moss etc.

It doesn’t get much easier than this to make a “Magical Moment” for someone special in your life!

Princess Party

We had our little princess party last week and the girls (my granddaughters) LOVED it.  They were so cute and they all get along so well.

I made these tutu’s

a few days ago, I found this fun party pack with the tiara’s, jewelry, wand, flashing microphone, banners, and lip gloss!  It was perfect for what I wanted.  When the girls got here, the very first thing they did was to to get  all dressed up like little princesses!Aren’t they adorable?!Then they each strutted their stuff!  Some sang,Some were coy,And some were practicing their model poses! We had a royal lunch with heart shaped tea sandwiches, chips, heart jello jigglers and a royal drink (cherry 7-up).  We learned how to use our napkins, sip our drinks, be polite, and stick out our pinkie finger to show how posh we were!  We had these princess cupcakes for dessert. After lunch we played pin the frog on the princess, fairy-fairy-princess (duck-duck-goose), we colored paper dolls and did a princess maze, then we practiced walking and sitting like a princess and worked on some of our dance and twirling moves!

After we had worn ourselves out, or at least grandma, we read Fancy Nancy and learned how to be posh and very FANCY!

When it was time to go home they all got to fill up their goodie bags with some yummy treats and goodies and Magical cookie wands!

It was a great party and they were all so cute and so sweet that it was a joy to have them and to spend the afternoon all together.  There is nothing that beats being a grandma!

They are blowing a kiss to all of you and hoping that you can be princess for a day too!

With love from,

the “Queen of Everything” and the “Princesses of Quite a Lot!”

Happy Halloween!

Happy Halloween from our family to yours!

Aren’t these just the cutest little spooks!

We had our Halloween party this weekend and this is what the goodies looked like!  I made this popcorn crunch and it was so good.  I used the popcorn puffs instead of popcorn, because I cannot eat popcorn with my braces. (What grandma has braces at this age?  I know of one crazy one!)   Anyway the popcorn was great and I added an orange flavoring to the orange chocolate and cut up orange slices !Here are the candy corn cupcakes and the mini donuts.  By the time I got around to frosting the cupcakes I was so tired that I just did them very quickly and you can tell, but oh well, they tasted great. I had a treat bag for all the kids to take home, complete with a mummy juice box, popcorn, candy and glo sticks for them to use tonight when they go trick or treating. We played a couple of games and had a fish pond which is a tradition that the kids ask about every year!

What are some of your Halloween traditions?  I hope that you all have a great day and a Happy Halloween!
