I have been wanting a table runner for my table, but I wanted a square one, not a rectangle one. I had several different pieces of fabric that were red and white, so naturally I decided that I needed to make my table runner. I made it with all my scraps and this whole thing did not cost me any extra money, because I had everything that I needed! Score!
I love how it looks on my kitchen table!
I had so much fun decorating this month! I think because Christmas was over and I am excited to start the new year. I went with the snowflake theme and even though I don’t really like the cold, I love how beautiful everything looks covered in snow. I had one of my grandsons’ in the car with me yesterday and he said, “Look Grandma, everything looks glittery!” And I must agree that it did… the sun was hitting the snow just right and it looked like glitter had fallen right from heaven! So Pretty.
Here is my December calendar!
This month for my calendar, I decided to make a fun little garland using mini cupcake liners and doilies! I think that it turned out pretty cute. You could use this idea with regular sized cupcake liners and doilies to make a bigger one and of course you could change up the colors to use for any season!
I got a few lanterns at Ikea a while back for the holidays. I made up a couple of them and I love the way they look and the ambiance that they create with the lights in them. They just glow so pretty with the stars cut out of the top of the lanterns! I am really a sucker for lights in my house. I have them everywhere, even when it is not Christmas!
Here are a couple of the projects from our retreat… a fun wired frame with covered clothes pins and a darling Haunted House with a bat to boot! I paired them up together to put in my front entry hall and they look just BOOtiful!

We had a fun little craft retreat at our cabin this last weekend. It was kind of fun because I had my sister bring a friend, and my friend brought her sister and I brought another friend. So we all had someone we knew and then we got to make new friends! It was great. Each group was supposed to bring a craft for everyone else to make. We did not put any restrictions on what we would do, we just put a $10 limit on each project. It was so much fun to see what everyone came up with. I decided that since I was hosting that perhaps I should do two crafts, well guess what… so did every one else! So instead of 3 projects, we made 6. Oh what fun we had!
We crafted, ate, went shopping, ate some more, giggled, fed the deer, crafted some more, stayed up late talking, ate again, fed the deer again and crafted some more, then went shopping again on the way home!

This weekend we are doing a Girl’s Craft Retreat and this painted board is one of my projects! I did one of these here and I told you that I would show you how to make one, so here it is! I have a great little trick for you that will help you get clean, crisp lines with no paint seeping under.
I was lucky enough to find an old window frame at an antique place a couple of weeks ago and I already had an idea in mind of what I wanted to do with it! Since Monograms are such the rage right now, I decided that was what I would put on my window frame! I am pretty excited about how it turned out…what do you think?

I have been working on several projects lately. It seems like when the weather starts to cool down just a tiny little bit, I start getting the crafting bug to make all kinds of things for all the fall and winter holidays! Is that nuts? It is still August for heaven’s sake! I am excited to share some of these ideas when I get them all completed. But for today, I have this wonderful thought for you to think about for this weekend!
My daughter and I went garage sale-ing at the first of the summer and she picked up a nightstand for her daughters bedroom. She did not take “before” pictures, so that means that I have not trained her very well yet! :)
But this is the after! So cute for a little girl!
