Happy Holidays everyone!

Hope all is well and you are filled with the Christmas spirit!

Our family is getting started with our annual Sinter Klaas Party the first weekend of December.  It is always a fun way to welcome in the Christmas season.  This tradition started after our oldest son came home from his mission to The Netherlands and we have been doing it ever since!  We have had to change up what we do to adjust for the ages of our grandchildren, but everyone seems to love it and we don’t have to compete with the other families for a date!!

O come let us adore him

I love this time of year when we think more about others and we have gratitude in our hearts for all that we have been blessed with.  There is much to be thankful for this Christmas season.  Look around you today and see if there is someone you can help…even it is with a friendly smile, letting someone in line in front of you, paying it forward to someone, doing a service to someone in need, or a million other things that I am sure you can think of!

Hope You Have a Great Weekend!

Girl’s Weekend 2015

For Christmas,  my husband and I decided that we wanted to give everyone an experience, instead of a wrapped gift, so we gave my daughter and DIL’s a girl’s weekend!

 It was so much fun!

We started off by going to dinner at Bucca di Beppo.  Most of them had never been here before, so they loved trying out a new dining place!
Girl's weekendWe were waiting for one more DIL to come, but the photo session started anyway!

Star Quilts

I am back from my Christmas break!  I hope that everyone had a great holiday and that you got to do something you loved or be with someone you love!

I mentioned that I was making quilts for Christmas, well we ended up making 5 of them!  I bought a kit last summer and it had the pattern and everything in it for a complete quilt.  It was such an easy pattern that I was able to put the top together in an evening!  There was actually enough fabric in that kit to do the star and the border for a second quilt!  So that is what got me on a roll!   My husband was out of town for about a week and during that week I was able to put 4 of these quilts together and my daughter did the 5th one for her husband for Christmas!

Mistle”toes” Gift Idea

I have seen this fun idea out there in blog land and thought that it was so cute that I needed to do it for my granddaughters!  It seems like all the kids have crazy sock day at school, so they could use these for that, right?  I found these darling snowman socks at Target and just had to get them, and these socks are just so soft and warm that they can wear them for slippers.

December 2013 Visiting Teaching Handout

I hope that you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving weekend.  We had a great one even though there was a lot of excitement in our neighborhood!  One of our neighbors had a fire in their home on Thanksgiving morning!  The home received smoke damage and damage to half of the house, but it is not a total loss, thank goodness!  We are hoping that they will be able to move back in a week or two!  But it will probably take months to get their home all put back together!  It really makes you stop and count your blessings and my number one blessing is always my family, as was our neighbor’s!  Everyone was safe and that was the most important thing!

But now, here is the December visiting teaching handout for Relief Society for my church  I love that it is all about the Savior for this month, because to me that is what Christmas is all about!

I chose to focus on this quote by  Elder D. Todd Christofferson.
