Darling Ruffled Skirt

A while back my daughter made this  blue and white striped skirt  for her daughter.

She also got some fabric to make another skirt from the same “Izzy and Ivy Design” pattern book  So, today I want to show you the other skirt that she made!  I am sooo in love with this skirt, look at all those ruffles and bows… it is a little girl’s dream! (A big girls’ dream too!)

Flag Rag Quilt

I saw a flag quilt on Pinterest  the other day and decided that I needed to make one!  So I ran and got some fabric and put this together last night!  It was really easy to make, but when I washed it to make it “rag” out, some of the fabric shrunk differently than the other and it came out a little bit crooked.  I was just going to leave it, because it is just a seasonal decoration, but my OCD got the better part of me and I had to straightened it out! :)

Young Women’s Sewing Class

Last week I taught a sewing class for the Young Women in my ward at church.

It was one of  the same classes that I taught to the women in a Relief Society activity and the young women wanted to learn, so we did a sewing class for them!  It was how to make the maxi skirts that I did here.

These girls were all so cute and eager to learn how to make these skirts.  There were about 15 girls there and they all got their skirts done except for the hem in 2 hours.  They were faster than when I taught it to the women in RS!

Easy to Sew Zippered Pouches!

Yesterday we had another one of our sewing classes for Relief Society in my church.  I taught them how to put in a zipper and we made these fun zippered pouches!

These are so fun to make and they are a great project to learn how to put a zipper in!   This is a beginning sewing class so all of the projects are simple to make.  There are a lot of pictures in this tutorial, but do not let that discourage you.  These are literally a 15-20 minute project once you have made one and know how to do them! Easy Maxi Skirt

We are starting a beginning sewing class in our Relief Society.  That is the women’s organization in our church and I am in charge of teaching it.  I am so excited because we have some really fun projects that are for beginners, but they are so cute that I think those that already sew will want to join us too! :)

In our first class we are going to make these darling Maxi Skirts!DSC_0273-2

(Don’t you love my new dress form?  I just got it and I am so excited that I can dress it for my pictures now!)

Quilt As You Go Table Runner

I have been wanting a table runner for my table, but I wanted a square one, not a rectangle one.  I had several different pieces of fabric that were red and white, so naturally I decided that I needed to make my table runner.   I made it with all my scraps and this whole thing did not cost me any extra money, because I had everything that I needed!  Score!

I love how it looks on my kitchen table!

Valentines Pillow Wrap

I have another pillow wrap for you today.

I love these wraps because they are such an easy way to decorate and a pillow can add so much to a room.  This is my Valentines version.  I love the colors with the touch of green added in the ruffle.  It goes perfect with my black pillow, so I did not need to make a new pillow,  just the wrap!

Darling Chevron Christmas Quilt

I have a WIP (work in progress) quilt to show you today.  I wanted to show it to you now in case anyone else wants to make one of these for the holidays!

It was a fun quilt to make and I was able to complete the top in two weekends!  So it actually goes together quite fast!

Joel Dewberry Skirt

I am quite proud of myself today.  I made a piece of clothing that I actually like and that fits me!  That doesn’t happen very often and I really don’t sew for myself very much for that reason!  But I saw this pattern made up at the “Dog Kennel Quilt Show”  a couple of months ago and I just loved it, so I decided that perhaps I would try to make one.  I was skeptical about it, but I liked the pattern so much that I bit the bullet and made it!
